'06 and '07 was not F/I.....just cosmetic....thats what I thought. But I did not know that they turbocharged them in '08. Not bad. Sedan is still ugly.....sounds pretty quick though

 

The SS in 06 and 07 were not just cosmetics either... No SS' cobalt's were just cosmetic.

The trim levels are as follows.

LS - Base 2.2L
LT - Mid 2.2L
SS - High 2.4L

That's for the sedan, the coupe had a higher level SS which was supercharged.

In 09 they ditched the supercharger and went turbo.

Which they put in the sedan as well.

 

Yup. Pretty much what I said, but just in greater detail (I was slacking b/c I was at work when I wrote that).

I myself have a Cobalt SS 2.4L coupe. Its been a nice car, and I did a fair amount of work to it (see my Tuner Maneuver Online Mag feature for more details), but i'll be happy to see it go.

The new '09 SS models are leaps and strides better than the older 2.4L high output SS models and the 2.0L supercharged SS models in so many ways. More power/torque, revised body intergrated sway bars, Brembos, forged alloys, no lift shift, RPD display....and the list goes on and on. But the major downfall for a Cobalt, having owned one from brand new in late '06 to now, with almost 70k on the clock, is that after a while, it just seems like everything on the interior goes to shit. And I take excellent care of my car, inside and out. But it just seems like everything rattles/vibrates on the interior now, and the "satin silver" paint that came OEM on the trim pieces flakes/chips much quicker than it should. Mainly the pieces around the window switches, in my car, and in friend's cars that also own '05-'07 Cobalt SS's, flake horribly. But overall, the car has been great, and has given me NO mechanical problems whatsoever, and has definitely proved its worth considering the monthly payments i'm still shelling out on it.

Sadly though, its time for her to go. I'm tired of the car and anxious to start a new project. but, contrary to all the hate that Cobalts receive....having owned an '88 RX-7, an '03 V6 Accord 6-speed, and a '97 M3....I can easily say the Cobalt was probably the most reliable of the group (granted it was also the newest). Looking to replace it with an '01-'03 Acura CL Type-S when my newfound money flow starts coming in. I want a "classier" car with a bit more power, and i'm looking to cut down on my monthly car payments, and the CL fit the bill perfectly

that guy had a neon srt4 caught it on fire at the track with ghetto mods and then flipped it nc at over 100.

 

That CSRT4 is Sick! Mine is for sale on here cheap because I need the money. Otherwise, the car is fast and the Getrag six speed is tight on these models. I believe 19" wheels were overkill but you need big wheels for big brakes. I Liked the CSRT4 much better it carries my surfboard, snowboard and other things just fine.
