Secondary air injector is a either a huge problem, or not..depends on how you want to fix it. You have to take the heads off and get the carbon out of the heads. Or you can get a chip to ignore it. Either 700.00 for the chip or 2500-8k(second is dealer price). At this price, I wouldn't run, but would have the car inspected. Thanks for your honosty! Seems priced right, even though it has this.

To me, I'll have to pass. Too much money to get it right and get a profit out of it. Mostly due to the stupid title issues, some cars do get fixed right, but get branded. That is weak.

If anyone has a m5 question, let me know.

Also, the best way to avoid carbon build up in these car is to drive it...and drive it hard.

I believe ive posted this once before in my thread there, my buddy with an 03' with <80k miles had the exact same code, he's paid close to 2000 at different shops to have the issue fixed, his CEL is still on. My car drives fine and hasnt lost any power (that i feel at least) and my CEL comes on and off depending on the weather, cold air vs. warm air. If that helps diagnose the problem any.. You are very correct about driving it hard, when i start to "baby" the car and drive for better gas mileage, it feels like it struggles more under heavy throttle.

This doesn't not effect performance. Just part of your emissions system. I can take the heads off and clean the carbon out for your buddy's car, or he can just get the chip. I know what I would choose . These cars also don't typically run great around 2000-2500 rpm. The need to breathe.

Problem with these cars is I do not know anyone else around here that knows how to fix them. He probably spent 2k in vain.. I have seen it over and over again. You can pm if you have any questions. I am always more than glad to help!

Most cars under 10k need major repairs, and this one does not seem to need it. You can even see a 80k mile car having the same problems, and that's probably because it was babied most of its life.

Thank you for all of your kind words and help by the way. Not often someone comes along to help somebody out, doesnt happen much these days..

I still have not investigated the history of the car. I need to call bmw and look through the VIN to see what maintenance has been done, I'm guessing all the maintenance was done from bmw since i found a couple of receipts saying "bmw of knoxville" where the car was from. I think a 130k 2 owner M5 deserves a lot more repsect than people have been giving it, yes the title is salvage, but if you drove the car you would never have even known it. My price is flexible just dont ask anything ridiculous.
