as for elk creek....yeah, it hooks! that, and emily likes it cause thats where the fast stangs are! aaaaaaaaaannnnnddd......its a REAL 1/8mile.....unlike NB. theirs, IIRC, is slightly under 1/8mile.....last i remember.
Actually, Elk Creek in the past has been known for being a little shy of 660' (1/8th mile) They use to say they made it shorter to make up the difference in the altitude. Natural Bridge, as far as I know, is a full 660'. As far as the slow times, there are a few reasons. 1)Altitude, 2)Traction, of course, 3) they dont treat the track much on Friday nights unless they are having the fast cars up there. 4) Some of these people at NB, no matter where they go, will have slow times. Its amazing how many people I see that dont even let the car cool down between runs, or even shut them off! They just fly through the pits in a race to get back in line. Morons!

All in all, I'm not the biggest fan of NB, but it is close to roanoke, and beats sitting at the house. I was hoping to have the black Cobra ready to make a few passes, but that won't be happening this week. So, I'll probably just go and watch.

And another thing about the Shelor Dragstrip, here is the info directly from the website. It's only gonna be an 1/8 mile!!!

DRAG STRIP INFORMATION: All burnout areas are 100% concrete. It will be a full 1/8 mile start to finish constructed of 100% concrete 50 feet wide. The decel lane is 1480 feet with a 2% grade increase. This will make the total dragstrip 2140 feet from the starting line with an addition 200 feet sand trap at the end of the decel lane. With the 2% grade increase of the decel lane this would be equivalent of an estimated track length of 3200 feet.

Not sure on the altitude. As far as my car, I am trying to finish the black one so i can sell it. it is pretty much a stock Cobra with a gear. Probably wont be very fast. (High 8's@ about 82-84MPH) the Mystic will be a little while before you see it running.

did you not see my posts about that strip earlier? i have said it before, and i will say it again: its 1/8 mile this year, and 1/4 in NEAR future.....

i just dont like all the ricers that go to NB and sit there....and dont race.

not to mention that there are some FAST mo fo's at both tracks....

but it will be good when all this shit gets done for the strip here, less of a ride.

My aunt and uncle are pretty much butt buddies with Larry Hagan....the co-owner of shelor

they haven't made a 100% decision on what they're doing yet, but it's still in talks for 1/4 mile.

don't believe everything you read though....

I know what you are saying about the "Don't beleive everything you read"
However, If they make the decel lane a 2% grade, I dont see that track ever being anything more than an 1/8th mile. To convert to a 1/4mile track, they would have to tear up the decel lane and redo another 660' that would be level. Then of course, extend the decel lane a decent amount . Now, if the decel lane were going to be level, I could see them converting, but who knows. At least they are doing it in all concrete!

Well, I am friends with the woman (yes, woman) who runs the track. She has told me on a couple different occasions it is going to be 1/4 mile and NHRA sanctioned next season.

Well i guess we will just have to wait, see, and hope for the best. I would be extremely exctited if a 1/4 mile track opened this close.
