Yes, stock for stock I think it would be a very good match. We are not talking a drag race. I'm not going to try to convince anyone it will beat it, I just know there isn't a stock honda that handles like the SVT. Even tho the Type-R would be in the same class if it was still in production. The EDM version of the SVT focus put a ZO6 vette down in almost every field (acceleration,braking,handling,1/4 mile times). I have a good feeling our version could beat a honda designed 7 years before it. I'm a Honda guy through and through, I wouldn't be sticking up for a Ford if I really didn't know what I was talking about.

The mazda MP3 handled better than a 360 modena per some magazines. That car was designed to handle. Could have used a better engine...

Off Edmunds....

"The SVT blasted through our 600-foot slalom at 68.2 mph. Not only was it faster than the Civic Si and New Turbo Beetle S, its slalom speed was higher than that of cars like the Chevy Corvette Z06, BMW M3 and Subaru Impreza WRX."

2002 Focus SVT 2000 Type R
600-ft slalom, mph 68.2 62.4

The Type-R would beat the focus in the 1/4 mile, but were not talking about the 1/4 mile, we are talking about a road course where handling owns, the Type-R was good for it's time. I'm not trying to bash the Type-R, nor do I want everybody to love the focus, just see that ford did do something right with it's handling. Not trying to start a war just had the present some facts.

OMG1!!1, like totally, did I even fucking say that? NO.

All I said was that I doubt an SVT focus can beat a type R. And I'm sticking to it... I guess your buddy will have to find a type R to race and we'll see how it goes
