I think Shawn has the best answer for this, I'm not even going to try and re-iterate it. He says it best.

P.S. your also showing a picture of a 10 year old Mustang interior. They've changed a bit for the better in the last 10 years.

i thought someone would be an idiot and drag up a picture of a 12 year old american car and say "look these are shitty." i just wasnt sure who was gonna be dumb enough to do it first.

and here is a lancer of a comparable year. notice the lack of "Recaros"

im not saying there are no imports that can hang. im just saying i dont see any recent japanese cars easily taking down 03/04/05 cobras, c6s/z06s etc. therefore they are just run of the mill boring to me.

I wanna know about this great import R&D. Please show me examples where a japanese import car company has created a marvel of engineering that American manufactures decided to "copy". And please say variable valve timing so I can see how ignorant you truly are.

You've got to be kidding me? Run of the mill?

Nothing is more run of the mill then using the same motor in domestic cars sence before i was thought of...Nothing is more run of the mill then using solid rear axels...

You wanna know why imports "can't hang"? Because they aren't gonna throw in a 500hp 7mt into the 2007 supra. They are going to develope a new motor and that cost money. They can't provide you with the BEST interiors and the BEST and NEWEST technology taken from F1 research and developement for "run of the mill" domestic prices.

Im sure if the other world markets would buy such a thing in numbers, nissan could take their v8 motors, redevelope them over and over and eventually offer the same performance for the price...they could keep the same interior shape too.

Oh BTW, Mustangs had Recaro's in 1985. So I guess they "R&D"ed those and the japanese manufacturers are just copying them huh

Please show me where a motor in a current domestic performance car has been around for 30 years. The LS1 was introduced BRAND NEW, as in sharing ZERO similarities with the smallblock chevy, in 1997. The Ford Mod motor 4.6/5.4 was created in 1996. The Dodge Hemi's are all new designs as well. How is a basic inline 4 or 6 cylinder, with the same 60 year old overhead cam technology, any better than a 8 year old v8 motor that was redesigned for the ground up?

There's a reason why American manufacturers can put a 500hp motor in their cars, its simply easier to achieve the HP numbers with the bigger motor. Hence, we get the old tried and true saying:

there's no replacement for displacement

And I want to see where solid rear axles are so bad. I mean, obviously they would never win a race if the solid rear axle was such a horrible horrible design. Go tell that to the hundred's of F bodys and Mustangs across the country that are winning against cars with "highly engineered suspension designed for handling".

That makes no sence....Recaro is a private company thats been creating seats for oem's for ever...being japanese, euro or american.....But american oems sure didn't learn from them.

You can not use an american race series as any compairson at all. There are more politics in them then the Kerry election. Have you seen the rules for any turbo charged motor? HA
