Post a pic of your offroader/4x4.
not one sign anywhere.... we hit some trails and about a mile or 2 in.... we come up to a clearing... well it's a graded construction site (we stay in the trees and do not enter the construction zone) and there is a guy on a bulldozer and so we stop and shoot the shit w/ him etc... for a bit and we asked if we could cross the open area (on the outer edge) to get to the treeline on the other side and he says we need to talk to his boss
so his boss (the owner of the property apparently) comes out and accuses us of tearing up his property (we'd never been out there before) so we calmly explain that there were no signs and we were unaware that it was private property and we'd be happy to leave immediately.....
he seemed to calm down a lot after that and he saw we werent just immature kids and we were being very respectful.... but he did "name drop" the "trespassing" word so we made a quick exit soon after.

Sucks, I've been involved in a few of those myself. Just have to be respectful no matter how the land / property owner comes off to you. If your in the wrong, your in the wrong.
Seems you and whoever was w/ you handled it well. Just sucks that he thought you guys were the ones "tearing it up".
People who wheel on posted / private property give the sport a bad name. Makes people see the sport as just a bunch of hoodlums out tearing up stuff.
Thus why I stick to trails I know. BigDogs, Crozet, Rausch Creek, GWNF, OakRidge, Shoe Creek, Gulch's . . . . to name a few. lol

There's a detour I have to follow to get home for the next couple months while they're doing construction and I always see these little clearings that appear to be trails on the side of the road. I always daydream about hitting them on my way home from work, but I know better. I just want to see where they end up. Probably just a hunting cabin, or maybe even nowhere... but I wish I could just explore.

We had seen this side cut off in the woods and it wasn't posted from what we had seen. There was a chain that looked like it had been on at one time but was now down. It didn't look broke or stressed in any way.
We went down it. It wasn't the roughest trail we had been on but we were just checking it out. We got to a spot where it looked like some berms had been pilled up and we couldn't really see past it because it was pretty big. Being Fall and it was thick brush back in there we couldn't really see much. We decided to go for it.
Both having CBs in the vehicles (my Tacoma and a buddies CJ) we had no reason to get out. Also being rather cold our windows were up. So we both took on the huge berm.... It was big enough we could both at the same time... When we got to the bottom it sent us through some more thick brush and into a clearing....
The damn clearing turned out to be Lynchburg Police Department's Firing Range. (one of them) Well guess what...... There were about 15 cops there just standing and looking at us. lol!

We pulled up a little and just sat there for what felt like forever talking on the CBs. What was prob. 5 mins a couple of cops walked over to us and we got out. They told us that they were there doing training drills and stopped because the thought they heard vehicles coming through the woods. They wanted to know how we got there and where we came from. We were MORE than polite with them and told them everything they wanted to know. They didn't even know that cut out was there.
They laughed and let us stay and watch a few drills and then we headed back where we had came from. Since then "trail" Cut out has been blocked by huge cement pillars that you cant get around. lol! All was well. No tickets or fines. Just some shit filled pants.

Truck I was in at the time ( keeping on topic
) 97 Tacoma 6'' lift 33" SS I miss this truck.

^^^ True.
Well if your ever wanting to hit a trail that you could easily run/ camp on and make it back home you should check out Shoe Creek. Its a local trail for me. Its about 30 mins from my house and some friends and I are there a lot. You should check it out!
