The civic si is a pig compared to a CRX, sure. It's still lighter than most of it's contemporaries and the added chassis stiffness helps it get off the line a lot better than the older honda chassis.
12's on street tires n/a is not run of the mill though. That requires some more effort or a lighter chassis (eg/ef)

Now with an eg + k20, sure, 12's are run of the mill and pretty much just an engine swap away.
IMO azenis are shitass drag tires. the sidewalls are way too stiff to launch effectively.
