I saw your shelby(drool) in some pics from "back in the day", and when i saw it out there today i had to go change my pants...definetly a nice car...almost didnt recognize you for a second there. car looks REAL good

i noticed the exhaust was kind of "dragging"(all i saw was pipe then the flange sitting pretty damn close to the ground) did you have it set that way, or was something messed up?

yea...sounded like you were going to 3rd...why? Should have stayed in second. Remember its not a Power race its a driver race. You had enough power in 2nd to get a better time. Like I have the right to tell you how to drive when I coulded even get it right 3 times myself....

It is sweet. It has just been sitting basiclly for many years now. Too many other projects, kids, houses, mom & dad's farm, etc. We just sort of drug it out of the barn for lack of a better description. Paint looked like it. I will take time to at least polish it all up a little before next time.

The Exhaust system on the car was severely rusted out from sitting around. That is why it was sooooo loud. It is normally a pretty loud car, but not like that. It is also normally faster, it will just take me a little time to learn how to drive it again.

No, I never once made it to third. I was feathering the hell outta second, and I was downshifting to first in the fun runs....discovered that I should have been doing that all along. Very learning experience for me today, if nothing else. That "N" isn't on the end of my class for nothing...haha.

You should get an e-mail within a couple days, then it will be posted on a site which will be linked here I'm sure.

PS---cobra4b had his camera out, and Zweetdreamz and myself helped him video all day. We're gonna try to do a goofy little vid to some music, I don't know if I have enough material really, but I'm going to try. Maybe you guys will like it and let me do some more...oh wait, I sold my camera...damn.

Merf.. I heard you say that you felt downshifting was faster. Why do you think that worked? I only ask because that it looked like you were entering too hot and maybe downshifting is slowing you up sooner. Just a idea to try to break eailer and turn the car with throttle. At least thats what I hear the rearwheel drive guys say works. Maybe Ed, or Calvin can chime in.

Calvin...It was nice meeting your Mom, I wanted to introduce myself but I was announcing the 3rd and 4th heats. I know you have posted on alot of my question posts. Thanx

As for my day I learned that rear preasures down equals loose rear. I dont know what I was thinking but it was when I was packing up that Brett and I talked about it and I was all off. Oh well I am still learning the car.

Michael

naw man, its watercooled. the first and last engine vw made that was a boxer engine and watercooled I think. anyways some people call it the waterboxer or also wasserboxer. some people like it but most dislike its reliability problems.

I was happy with my times today, I just feel a little frustrated when my car doesnt want to turn. I think with some good tires, swaybars and lsd I could do so much better, but that is so much money. Oh well I hate bitching too, so dont mind me.

Great racing today though, loved to see the variety of cars. that 914 was the extreme hotness!! finally some decent weather, still kinda windy but better.

Merf I bet you no one got vids of my hatch, just like last week at the drag strip, I asked two different people to tape a run but nothing.
