Becuase full leather wrap work like that is super expensive. Typically runs $15,000+ for a Corvette.
It's not that I don't appreciate the interior... it looks wonderful, it's just very very expensive for that caliber work.
From what I've seen before, most of the time when VW guys do crazy interior work like that, it's because either they have the ability to do it themselves, or they know someone who does. It's a very select few that actually pay full price to have someone do that for them.
Also, you'd be amazed at how many VW kids come from well off families and mod their cars with momma and poppa's open wallets.
