I seriously don't know why anyone is giving Carl Shit. He's worked pretty damn hard for the motor to get built and everything he has. Atleast give him that, I mean everyone makes mistakes. Best thing is, learn from it. Everyone doesn't have to be a dick about his mistake. Yes, I agree it should have gotten re-tuned but when I had seen it, didn't seem to be running lean, or poorly. Best thing I, myself can tell you is just learn from your mistake and move on.........it sucks to see a nice setup go down the drain. But hey, fun while it lasted right?

I can understand your frustration, but what you should do is try to salvage what you can from your old motor.. you are definitely gonna have to rid of the sleeves/pistons.. go ahead and resleeve the block, have it flushed, get new pistons, probably a new head too.. then get the right tuning equipment.. get a wideband at the least.. for you, I would recommend a J&S safeguard, seems to work pretty good from what I hear. it detects knock and retards timing.. you don't seem to be the DIY tuner type of person so go ahead and go with neptune and get it tuned conservatively!

I feel bad for you and I can understand, thats alot of time and money, but it's best to be ANAL about your tune next time around, you can't be too safe.. Now quit postin and try to work with what you have got, you will feel better sooner and quicker you get it up and goin again

People are jumping on your case because you are acting immature and combative. I think you know why your motor blew, and it's time to be an adult and own up to your mistakes. Trying to put the blame on Big Al's is fucked up - even if the cat was too small it's not their responsibility to know what needs to go on a highly modified motor. If it's not stock then you needed to tell them what part to use.

i wasnt trying to be a dick. what i said at first what just the way it seemed. i dont know this dude, i dont know the build. it sounds like a good build, just it was fucked up by running without a tune. like it was said, another life lesson learned. just roll with it...

it never hit the full 11.9 psi like it was supposed too
so i droped it in to 3rd seeing how i had a real short geared tranny
So you're flogging on a motor you already know isn't running right. . .

sounded like i had "boost stack"which is when all that boost has no where to go with that little ass pipe!
Pressure inside your intake manifold is called "boost", pressure in your exhaust is called back pressure. Back pressure kills performance on boosted motors (especially supercharged) but it def doesn't blow them up, unless you're running like a 1.5" exhaust.

and it was built to go pretty high never took it over 8500 rpm!
On a motor thats 2700 miles old? Even if you did break it in gently, you're still beating the piss out of new, untuned motor.

I said you may have overlooked something, you then spout off about how everyone else is slow and never will be fast pee pee poo poo...You engine situation is unfortunate, but your response was highly immature.

Very true, but it's the way he's representing himself.

I blew my motor for a reason that I knew was happening, but yet I continued to drive it.

He did the same, but not hes looking for remorse, and thats not happening.

Tell "Carl" to build it again, and get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing, and thats not a stab at him. Thats one thing someone shouldn't attempt to do if they want it to last.

man, that sux. ive read the thread fully because i was intreaged on your idea. but im sorry it doesnt fit. lack of fuel is what your problem was. did u let someone drive your car? maybe they put some cheap gas in? hows the fuel pump? if all them check out, im sorry to say its your tune. I know everyone have said this already, but im just enforcing it some more. it sucks man. but take this a learning exsperiance. all the best motot builders blow something up in there time, your not the only one. good luck with next build.
