Don't blame it on me! I would be interested in doing a fun run in your car sometime to see what's up with that front grip problem you're having.

It's in the ABS, it's called ICE MODE, if I get on the brakes too hard and the pads grip too much, the computer thinks I'm on ICE and regulates the ABS as if a little old lady is driving. It happens mostly when I'm in my third or fourth run when the pads heat up, and I'm pushing the car more.

You're more than welcome to co drive at pungo if you want... just let me know.

TSCC had a cone clinic in April, so you're a bit late for that. I *think* there's an Evo school coming up Oct 17/18 at ACU4. Evo is more expensive than the cone clinics, but the instructors are all professional instructors vice club volunteers. Some of the various clubs do novice instruction days, too, so keep an eye out- the Mini Cooper club had a Sniper School last year that was opened to TSCC members, and I jumped on that! The BMW club & Porsche club had their joint training autocross a few weeks ago. Not sure about the corvette club, mustang club, etc, but wouldn't hurt to keep an eye out. It's all about seat time, seat time, seat time, and the cone clinics are terrific for that. You can also get people to ride along with you during the autocross to give pointers and help.

Speaking of codrivers,,, my wife came out to watch me race twice. After that, she started driving, too! Now it costs me twice as much to race *and* we have to find a babysitter! I guess the pro side is that I don't have to argue very hard to drop 2 grand on a set of racing tires

I don't mind taking a ride depending on when you run. I forgot all about it at pungo, you just gotta grab me to remind me.

SSSupra,
Here's an explaination of the "ICE MODE" brake issue you saw first hand when you rode with me. Coming in hot and hard on the brakes causes it, especially if the RPMS are high. I'm surprised the corvettes don't have this issue, curious if the ABS module is the same or if it has different firmware.

"I don't doubt you're seeing Ice Mode at all. I got it twice at the same event last month. It seems to be exacerbated by left foot braking, high RPM and bumps. The ABS sees a rate of wheel speed deceleration that it doesn't think is possible (race tires and pads) so it ASSumes that you're on ice and dials back the line pressures. If we could change that value that its using to determine maximum expected decel, we could effectively eliminate Ice Mode. I'd also like to be able to change the wheel sizes and / or number of reluctor pulses for 1 revolution."

Take your ABS fuse out, best I can tell that seems to cure the problem.
