Anyone drive the new EVO 8?
Man this statement is stupid...
Enthusiasts IN GENERAL represent a small fraction of this area population. The list I provided was the more performance oriented portion of the enthusiasts. Regardless quite a few local bone stock cars would kill an EVO on the interstate. Is that to say an EVO is slow as molasses? No. However in the grand scheme of things stock EVOs from a roll are not that fast.

You listed individual cars that represent a tiny fraction of the area population. I never said that the EVO could be every fully modded car in the world.

I don't doubt that an s2000 can school a vette in auto-x w/ a good driver. Auto-x stresses a very very light and nimble chassis. You've got that. Now get out to a real road course like VIR or Road Atlanta and the Z will roll! They do very good in auto-x too. I'll be at the Pungo auto-x next sunday! I've only done one auto-x but I've run at Road Atlanta a bunch. Was supposed to go to VIR this weekend, but that got messed up by the weather
Evo's are great bang/buck and I'm sure they handle quite well, but they're but ugly. I know appearance is subjective, but...

Less than 500 bucks in the car will guarantee consistent high 12s.
Well, this car is the best handling vehicle I've ever driven, and according to most, the best handling car available to the general public. Race suspension, awd, etc, etc.
On the highway, I've had plenty of fun. If you downshift right, there shouldn't be too many folks that can beat you. I took it up to about 120mph on a good straight, copless stretch of 64 and the car felt amazingly in control. Stability is second to none.

Man I guess my LT1 would be fish food. New car to look out for EVO. See my sig.
I will give you this it is a nice car but its claim to fame is its launch. Thats why it ET`s well. After that its mediocre at best. From a roll most other sports cars will hand it its ass. With drag radials most would also get it in the 1/4.

Yes, I do. He is the owner.
I am staying AT the shop, in a loft bedroom above the office. I have learned a LOT about the EVO 8 during this visit. So far I have installed/done:
ECU retuning
Boost gauge
Boost Controller
Intake
Exhaust
Midpipe
Downpipe
Brake pads
CLUTCH and flywheel (this is is a real big PITA)
Swaybars
WORKS Tein FLEX coilovers with custom spring rates
Tein EDFC (cockpit adjustable shock control)
Various wire routing for datalogging equipment
WORKS custom cams w/ Fidanza cam gears
The car is making ~280awhp consistently, on 91 octane gas. It's a great pleasure to drive, mainly because of the awesome steering, turn in ability, and broad powerband.

Dude, you get up pretty early. It's like 5:30 in San Fran. Do you have any inside info on their clutch? I mean did they buy from the Exedy aftermarket division and then rebuild them like ACT or is it a from scratch kind of deal? I know Exedy has the patent on the release bearing design, so I was just wondering how these things worked?
