I'm gonna have to pass on that bet
I'm betting the battery wouldn't hold a charge (even though it "tested good") and that's why it didn't start. That's purely a guess, but that's what I'm going with.
My buddys bike did the exact same thing, bought a new battery, he rode it for an hour, then it cut off on him while riding. I don't know that I'd risk that if I were you. But hey, it's your bike. A rectifier is about the same price as a battery anyway.
just jump start the bike. i do it all the time. You hook up the cables.. the bike should start period. if that works. then un hook the cables and see how long the bike runs. If it shuts off in about 10 min or less... something is wrong.

You can try another battery, but I'd take a look at the rectifier.
Forgot to also mention checking the starter solenoid. I had mine go out on me at one point. You could jump it across the leads with a screwdriver, but not with the starter button.
yea... your right... I have only bought and sold over a dozen bikes last season and have 7 in my possession right now. In fact... I just used a 98 Ford Ranger to jump an 03 CBR 600rr... 09 R1... and an 04 R6 last week at the storage unit.
I was amazed when none of them caught fire though... weird!
Well, I bought a new battery and it still doesn't start. In any case, I'm not mad I bought the battery, because I have no idea how old the other one is. And given the state the bike was in when I bought it, it was probably the original battery. So, the other possibilities listed have been rectifier and starter solenoid, correct? Could it be the starter altogether? Any other ideas? I appreciate all the input.
