Yea so I went to ride into DC this morning...

Replaced Oil last night, Air Filter, Oil Filter and put everything back together..

LEFT at 5:50AM and I hear this "Womp Womp Womp" wtf is that.. So I turn around and get back home, Put the bike on the rear stand and spin the tire and the chain gets SO tight it doesnt wanna spin without force behind it when a certain part of the chain meets the sprocket teeth.. but i spin it and then its like it freed up and spined loosely.. found out there are 2 links that are not sitting well inside the sprocket teeth in the rear.. I had no lube on it or cleaned the chain.... I dont know if I bet one of the Teeth or what.. the sprockets and chain have 18,000 miles on them... Should I just replace them to be safe?

I am no bike expert or mechanic, but if it were mine, with that mileage, I would replace both sprocket and chain. It isn't that costly and it's a pretty important part of the bike. Better safe than sorry is how I see it.

Right on, Looks like I will be doing this.

How long is the life of a chain good for... Lube recommendations?

This is what I use so far now -

Been real busy trying to get everything ready for this season. Everyone may remember my bike like this:

I decided to change things up a bit and do something else. Thanks to Andrew Swenson for the great paint job, and Chris Kruzel for the graphics.

First, got some graphics done:

Second, I decided to do something else with the paint instead of the all chartruce color I had before:

Third, put on the number vinyls:

No, those are not my stuffed animals.

I haven't had a chance to mount them on the bike just yet, but I hope to get that done here shortly. Only thing else I really plan on doing to the bike is a new windscreen, new tires, and a front and rear stand. I did the number plates in chartruce, though they look yellow in the pictures.

Look for the clear stuff, less chalky is way better. That white stuff sucks balls, I have it right now too. You want to be as SAFE as possible with chains/sprockets. Ever have a chain come loose on yah? I was riding my buddies yz450 which has a bent tooth, bastard SHEERED through everything it touched like a hot knife through butter.

I wish I could remember the brand of the lube I just bought but I'll have a look at it tomorrow for yah, ride safe man!

EDIT*

Chain life is between 5-10 thousand miles if you want to play safe. Its like the whole, you CAN ride your tires for 8,000 miles...but do you want to ?
