I've had 3 people come to me to help them find bikes and every last one of them either went and bought a brand new bike or spent WAAAAY too much in the end. One girl spent $6900 on a gsxr and tried to act like she got a good deal and then I went on CL and found that same bike with more mods and the same mileage for $4500 obo. Another went and bought a brand new 750 and she said the salesman told her she was getting a great deal. I wanted to slap her.

I've come to realize that most people get into riding simply because everyone else is doing it. Most of the time it's a friend that convinced another friend to spend the extra money they had on a motorcycle so they can look cool and pick up bitches on the strip. That's why I usually keep to myself when it comes to riding.
My favorite is when people come to look at my bikes. "I don't want a bike that has been laid down". Me "Ok, I have one right here.... the price is blah blah blah." them "but blue book is blah blah blah". Me "blue book is the "average" that people get for the bike and you are wanting a perfect bike... expect to pay more than blue book." them "Oh... well I am only looking to spend $3000" Me "dude... stop wasting peoples time with that garbage. Dont come looking for a perfect 05 and up sport bike with $3000 in your pocket."

I'm keeping the lever for now. I don't feel like dropping the time or effort into making it a street bike, I'll just buy another bike whenever I get the money or trade with someone looking for a track bike whenever it happens. I need to learn to be patient and stop rushing through things.

Just take a Basic Rider course. They spend about 25% in the class room and the rest on the track. You'll learn quite a bit.

Different organizations have different days. You can prolly check their website and see which orgs run on which days.
