The column shifter on the beater (1994 Olds Bravada) has gotten so loose that it won't even turn on the reverse lights unless I hold it up. I thought this would be pretty self explanatory once I got the steering wheel off, but it sure isn't. All I see is a completely blocked off column. How do column mounted shifters work?

 

I did some Google runs and could only find a shit ton of recalls for the shifter for that car, otherwise very little info on it. You might have to find either a Chiltons, Haynes, or factory service manual and take it apart.

so its pretty much an S10 blazer. those things are stupid easy to work on.

 

No, I've realized it since it was new. It was just funny to hear about the recalls when I've always considered it to be a giant pile of shit.
