Car had nothing but problems on all but the first run. Which was the only time I've ever launched it.

The 108mph time was me shifting at @5500 in 2nd and 5000 RPM in 3rd and 4th. After the first run the car would feel like a 1988 stock civic past 4500 RPM. I let it cool for a while and it would run up to about 5k RPM's and then fall flat. The coolant temps were hitting 240+ while in the staging lanes... turning the car off did not help.

It scared me how the car would feel good and then fall on it's face past 4500 RPM. On the highway after the races it felt fine. I'm hoping it was just pulling timing due to the heat?

I couldn't run anymore due to a brake fluid leak spewing fluid on the rear passenger wheel, didn't want to cause a wreck. Here's the video.

I'm a little annoyed at all the issues because I really wanted to practice launching the car and run a 12 second time in a basically stock car - as most people agree axle back exhausts on these are just for the sound.

Maybe next time, and in cooler weather.

Looks like you were giving the silver vette a head start. Was this today? Seemed like perfect weather all day

 

Yeah. I talked with him a bit before our race. He's probably been drag racing for longer than I've been alive. He cut a good light, I was more worried about launch. Of course I bogged anyways.

 

oh man, this just reminded me, tell me why i saw and old ass vette today, and the plate said TEENWLF

HAHA, teen wolf, there wasnt even a vette in that movie. Doesnt make sense to me at all.

1) Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.
2) Press the "reset" button to turn off any warning messages
3) Press and hold "options" and
4) While holding "options", press "fuel" four times within a 10-Second period.

 

I forgot to check the codes. But I did read on the vette forums that the cars pull timing if coolant gets too hot. And considering how well it ran on the highway after....

I'll still check codes when I get home tonight.

 

Id get the front on stands and check out the radiator, alot of shit gets up in there if you have never cleaned it out might wanna take a look.

Heh, you taken yours to the drag strip yet pal? As annoyed as I was not getting a chance to learn how to launch the car, I was pretty happy I can still drive well enough to hit 111mph in a stock C5.
