Check chain slack.... it should be between 1.2 and 1.4 inches at rest. If thats not the problem then your clutch could be the issue. Get up to about 50 put it in 6th and WOP, if you get slip its the clutch..... those are the only two I can think of. Good luck. BTW I have the same bike. If you want to put it up on stands and look, I have them, just let me know... we'll look at it.

I could also be water in your fuel if its been awhile since you ran it .... I had a similar problem. I got water in the fuel and fouled my plugs.

that's a potential problem.

bent fork will not put it into gear fully and could fuck shit up and make it feel like it's slipping / knock it into neutral.

i would would replace 2nd gear anyways.. the teeth are probly messed up.

its a common problem on kaw/yamahas.. i had this same problem with my bike. i just score a whole trans/forks on ebay from a lower miles bike and swaped the whole trans/forks.

this could be from alot of things, oil(is a big part), the rider riding with there foot on the shifter(putting weight on the forks), miss shifting, wheelies, shifting without using clutch and NOT letting off the throttle

its a easy job. but does take time

Check your front sprocket. @18 k miles, they wear out. My guess is that you have peaks on your drive sprocket.
