my friend has a 2 channel fosgate amp in his car...well the protection light keeps on comming on and ive looked over all his wiring..i couldnt find nothing....can someone tell me what could be wrong....i mean i dont think that its blown but hey what can you say....anyway the amp plays for a while then goes back into protection mode...ive checked all the fuses...and all that junk....

 

try a better ground

 

possible overheating? either that or something internal is blown.

 

I used to have a rockford that did the same thing. Try turning down the gain a bit. They're not made to go all the way up all the time. A better ground couldn't hurt either.

 

it sounds like your ground and try looking into a farad cap if your gonna run it with the gain 3/4 or more fosgate is a great cheater amp. what kind is it

 

could also be inadequate +12vdc wire. could be going into thermal protection 'cause there's not enough juice

 

I'm saying ground as well.

 

check and see if any of the speaker wires are touching each other. something like that happened to me and i had the speaker wire stipped WAY too much and they were touching sometimes.

 

i talked to him the other day. said he checked and double checked the wiring. according to him, nothing was touching, so i'm gonna go with the general consensus and say ground. but might also be the gain turned up too high.
