explorer died while driving now wont start
ok my friends 2002 4.6 v8 explorer died while driving it and now when we try to start it, it just clicks real loud at the starter almost as if the starter is just hitting the teeth on the flywheel.
I was thinking that maybe it could be the starter, but that definitely would not have cause it to stop running while driving it right?

I checked the grounds with a voltage meter and they seemed good. I think the motor may have sezed up though. Does this engine have a timing chain?

Just because the battery is good, doesn't mean that there is a good ground (or power) elsewhere. Grab a multimeter and see what you have for voltage between the block and the battery, this will sometime show a difference in ground potential. Often if will only show up under load if there is a broken cable lug or a corroded connection.

well when i checked with the volt meter i put the positive on the positive post and the neg on the engine block and it came up 12 sumthing. but i can check some more. would a bad ground just cause the car to shut off while driving?
