Inspection Question ** NOT LOOKING FOR INSPECTION **

Default Inspection Question ** NOT LOOKING FOR INSPECTION **

So yesterday went to tread quaters and pulled out the book of the check list for inspection. From what i gathered a vehicle could not be raised or lowered past 3in?? so what i need to know but could not figuere out in the book is that the bumper must be ___ above the ground ? and the seat in the car, I have a racing bucket seat with a lap belt, is that legal or must i put my bench seat back in, Thanks for help.

**** I AM NOT LOOKING FOR AND INSPECTION. SLACK INSPECTION OR ANYTHING IN THE LINES!!! I JUST HAVE A QUESTION

The inspector at my shop basically says if he can jack it up then he'll pass it for height. And I've seen him pass a few cars witih racing seats and harnesses.

You can't just have a seat belt over your lap. It has to be going across you also if i'm not mistaken. It has to be 14inches off the ground from the bumper support.

Um, yeah, I think that's wrong there smart guy. How do you explain some of the older muscle cars with just a lap belt passing inspection? I think it all depends on if it meets the safety requirements of the car for that year.

Your seat should be fine, 14" from the bumper or the support if you no longer have the stock bumper. You do need a shoulder harness, depending on the year of the vehicle if I remember correctly.

A stock seat belt won't hold you in 90% of the time with a racing bucket.

If your car is before a certain year, all you need is a lap belt. I think its like pre-'73 or something.

Good job being a smart ass. You fail my good sir. Older cars have some different checks then newer ones.

okay thanks, so im going to buy a 5 point harness, and check the the front bumper support.
