Which tires to use? for real...not just for looks
Alright so I saw the other thread was misguided with the tires that "look" cool...so I decided to start up a tire thread based on what you REALLY want out of a tire.
I need opinions on what is the BEST AutoX tire hands-down in your opinion.
If you had to have a tire that was good for AutoX AND daily driver with good tread wear, what would that be?
all experienced, honest opinions appreciated!

You have two options when it comes to the best tire for autoX (DOT Legal)...
Kumho Ecsta V710 or Hoosier A6
Some people will say one is better than the other, but for the most part, they are damn close.
Although those two tires are R compound tires that will not last a week on the street.
For a dual purpose tire, take a look at these:
Falken Azenis 615
Kumho Ecsta MX
Hankook Ventus Z212
These 3 tires pretty much dominate the ST classes.

Nitto 555RII
I am at about 12K street miles on them with 8 auto-x events. they are now down to the wear bars so I use them only for the auto-x events.

If you are just getting into Autox get any one of the street tires fourwhls posted. I do not recomend any R compound tire to a novice driver. R compound tires have great grip, but have some very inportant trates that need to be discussed. An R tire will grip well over the limits of any street tire but their grip goes from 100% to 10% in .000001 sec, when pushed over the edge. This means that even though a street tire maybe screaming at you in every corner its grip will remain more consistant and tapers off instead of falling straight off. Also if you were to get a set of R compound tires you will need a second set of wheels, to store, and tote back and forth from each event. Also when learning the car all drivers will a tendency to lock up your brakes, a softer tire flat spots very easy, so if you flat spot a tire a few times it will have to be replaced, mo money. Heavy, cars eat up tires and R compound are close to twice the price of a good street tire.
These are just a few things to think about. Good luck
