Re: Rebuilt/Salvage Title?
the actual process isn't too bad, take the salvage title to DMV and they'll give you the paper work for rebuilding it, then call a # they give you and schedule to have it inspected(after its fixed), that usually takes a month or two, then he'll give you a certificate declaring it road worthy and you take that to DMV and do all the regular stuff you do when you buy a new bike
but another thing to possibly keep in mind, in the state of VA a rebuilt bike can only have liability insurance, no one will do full coverage on a rebuilt vehicle, i've been told thats not always true but its what Progressive told me when i called to insure mine, only wanted liability anyways
the rebuilding process, on mine i didn't do a thing, just put a chain on it b/c it was missing one, got it inspected with all the fairings messed up and stuff, but he told me you really need to repair 90% of the damage which would have made it totaled for future reference but since it was my fisrt rebuild he would cut me slack

Re: Rebuilt/Salvage Title?
I was thinking since you always respond relatively quickly to PM's and posts in this forum, with good information, that you, "Del La Sol 1320", should be the moderator for the Cycle Corner. But that is up to you, but if you ask Sung, then i think he would see your getting support from those of us who frequent this forum.

Re: Rebuilt/Salvage Title?
i moderate the cycle forum on superhonda.com pretty successfully, don't really have to do much, main advantage is just being able to automatically sticky posts with out having to PM a admin... if you want me to be PM Sung and 'nominate' me or something, i'd rather not ask myself... so far this forum is running pretty good though with us frequent posters
oh yea and i got to ride today, yessssss

Re: Rebuilt/Salvage Title?
Ive got a stupid question but I bought my bike as a salvage with all of the work already done. I just got the bike VA inspected by Sunrise Motorsports, will the DMV give me plates since I got the bike state inspected or do I still have to go through the extra inspections?

Re: Rebuilt/Salvage Title?
if the title of the bike still says salvage you will need a dmv inspector to come out and look at the bike. if the title says rebuilt, then you dont. even with a VA inspection, a dmv inspector still has to look at it.
