2002 BMW M3 E46 StartUp Issues
What's goin on guys! Was referred on here by a friend. But lemme jump straight to the point here. My M3 has been having startup issues for the past few months. It's been in and out of the dealer/shops for repair. It seems that after each fix and reprogram, it would die again within a few weeks time. The car has died 5-6 times the past few months. Note: each time it died, attempted startups were different. A few times, the car cranks but doesn't start up all the way. Other times, it just doesn't start at all (radio and lights still work though). It is NOT the battery, SMG relay, or the alternator. We got all those fix since there were faults in them. Right now, the car is still in the shop and is working fine for a couple weeks now. They were telling me that it's good to take home but I'm paranoid it's going to happen again. I'm trying to enjoy the car this summer taking it to the beach and whatnot. It would just suck if I had it out there and it dies! No good! Any suggestions would be great. Any thoughts on what might be wrong with the car?

My first guess would be the SMG relay, but since that's a-ok, I got nothing.
Have you posted it here http://m3forum.net/m3forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9 ?

if they say that its fixed and ready to go home...then go get it and drive it...the only way to know for sure that its fixed is to drive it...
if it breaks down again then you can make this thread.

YER funny ...
If they said they fixed and it does not give any issues you should take it out of the shop and drive it as a daily driver for a while and see how it does. If it does give issues I would just go to the BMW dealer instead of a shop or Viking Automotive in Chantilly. However I recommend the dealer.
