Dirtbike Questions
My fiances little brother is turning 12 in a month and he really wants a dirt bike. I remember when I got mine and it was probably the best birthday ever.
Well I have not ridden or been around them since then so I do not know whats what or what size to get him.
He is only about 5 foot tall but I dont want him to outgrow it in a year..
So what is a good brand and size and year to look for for him for around 1000 bucks or under. I am sure he is going to destroy it over the next 3 years or so, so I do not want to buy new.

Re: Dirtbike Questions
So a 100cc is going to be a good size for him??
I dont want to get it too small so that his friends are leaving him in the dust but I dont want it to be tall for him either.
Thank you for the suggestion.

Re: Dirtbike Questions
^I was gunna say a 125 or 150. I learned to ride with a bike much too tall for me, but height doesn't matter when your rolling.
Plus I learned to respect the power because it scared me senseless at first.

If he has never ridden, and you don't want him to out grow it, he is in a funky place age wise to where once he gets the hang of it, he may outgrow a 100/125/150 pretty quickly. Also, if you are thinking 3 years down the road or so, he is REALLY going to have outgrown it by then. I had a beat to shit Honda 82 cr350 at 12, but had been riding since 6, and my pops was more of the type to buy something to grow into, than have to replace every year or so.
Since it's not your kind, and a future brother-in-law, have you cleared this idea with his folks? That can be a huge deciding factor too.
The Kawi xr250 is a fun little run around, that would be good to get him acclimated, handles trails well, and isn't over the top. 4 stroke too, so a bit easier to maintain.
