Local Place (SE VA) That Sells Auto Racing Helmets
Can anyone tell me a place where I can buy a helmet locally? I need a SA2000 rated helmet (not M2000 which is a motorcycle helmet).

Performance Unlimited (Norfolk) has some, i believe. you can order them locally, but many don't seem to keep SA's in-stock.
i dunno if TNT has them, but if they did, i'm sure they'd rape you on the price.

Well, no joy with Performance Unlimited. They could order one, but if I were to do that I might as well order one myself. All I really wanted to do was try some on for fitment and comfort.

depending on how far you'll drive, there are other options. OG Racing is in NoVA, and they have some seriously nice helmets. there is always the idea that if, say, Bell was your choice of helmet, then you could find a motorcycle shop that sells Bell, then try it on there. the M vs. the SA aren't really that different in fit. i know Bieffe makes SA helmets as does Arai and HJC, and there are motorcycle shops that sell those brands.

cycle world on VB Blvd. Sunrise (are they still in business? ) in Norfolk. i dunno if Brickhouse in Chesapeake has helmets outside of brain buckets. there's the BMW cycle place on Greenbrier. those are a few of the local ones. i tried helmets on @ Cycle World.
