b16 block gsr head?
can some one explain the purpose of a gsr head and a b16 block together? thats the way i bought the car from my friend cause i needed a car and i dont think he knew what he was doin but he needed money aswell. so yea. he didnt know what was up. cause the vtec wasnt kickin in and he thought it was an ls ecu. so anyways i fix the vtec prob it was jus a wire that was cut and it was a type r ecu. but i dont know the purpose of a b16 bottom with a gsr head on a p73?

Re: b16 block gsr head?
It's either a smaller displacement GSR or a B16 with a slightly different head, depending on how you look at it. It's really not any different than a B16, so just pretend that's what it is. Someone was probably selling a B16 block and someone else was probably selling a GSR head. Sounds like the swap was done with whatever was laying around the garage, nothing wrong with the combination of parts though.

Re: b16 block gsr head?
The ECU tune will be a little off for that engine (because it's not an ITR) but it will run it fine. If you still have the GSR intake manifold, you won't be able to use the secondary runners on the manifold because that ECU doesn't have any control output for them. If you want to get tuned at some point, you'll have to get an OBD1 VTEC ECU like a P28, P30, P72, etc.
