How do you do a proper launch?
Lets say someone wants to run you and you catch a light. How do you get a really good launch. Obviously you cant rev it to high and just drop the clutch or you will likely flip over, so those of you who know, what exactly must person do to get a good launch?

first get as much of your weight over the front of the bike as possibly, hump the tank and put your head down low, elbows out... some people like to leave with both feet off the pegs, some like to leave with their shifter foot already on the peg... bring your revs to around 6k and hold it steady, let your clutch out to the point where it will roll forward if you let it out anymore, when the light goes green the trick is for your clutch and throttle hands to be connected, as you let more clutch out you dial in more throttle, if the front end starts to lift use the clutch to control it and stay on the throttle until you can fully disengage the clutch and go 100% throttle... you don't have to slip the clutch on a 600 nearly as much as a 1000, but if your against a guy on equal machinery your ability to do so will make the race
so the the big things
*weight forward, over top of the front wheel as possible
*relax
*smooth clutch slipping
ideally a perfect launch you would have the front wheel just barely skimming the ground

Everything Del La Sol said....except the slipping clutch w/1000 more than a 600 part, its the exact opposite...must slip clutch more on lesser displacement bike to get it outta the hole as it doesn't have as much torque.

i really do not agree with zx12 guy on all my bikes i held it at like 6k-7k and just role throttle and reliese clutch equally both feet off the pegs the ass end will spin for a sec but if you got a good tire it will hook and you will be gone in no time and its always worked for me and ive take 750's and 2 1000's outa the hole that way yes they came back and got me but i got them outa the hole and if the front end comes up just lean foreward let off throttle and then get back in to it just dont chop it real hard and you should be o.k.
if u chop it front is going to be up in the air it always worked for me and i went down one tooth on front and up two on the back and i never hadf a problem i would say that just play with it every bike is diffrent
