Default Tachometer wiring problem

I installed my tach for a 90 teg, but there is a problem. I have all the wiring corrected but when I shift gears the needle does not move. I might have installed the green wire wrong! What power source is recomended. can anyone help?

I have the black for the ground straight, the white wire for the lights and the green for the ignition coil or battery or something like that. I do think that is the problem, I have the wires backwards. Any suggestions.
