i had my block bored and honed... and when i got it back it looks like they did it right but i'm second guessing their honing work... because i barely see the criss-cross pattern and the walls feel real smooth... help out the noob... thanks

Re: proper hone?
who did the job?..
measure it, you need to check the ring clearances anyhow,if there off real bad like they overbored it to much then youll know its not right, in my experience different shops hone different and use different styles and machines that leave different markings on the wall, my block was rather smooth when i got it and it was in perfect spec so i wouldnt worry whether or not your cylinder walls are smooth or crosshatch rough, as long as its within spec.

Re: proper hone?
Depending on how well the boring went they may have only had to do a light hone if any. Usually do a hone anyhow just to make sure the sylinders are 99% round with no stepping.
