What can the noise be?
hey, i know nothing about cars so im hoping someone can help. i have a 90 corolla (pos) and when i make turns my car makes a thump sound. It sounds like its coming from my tire area. Also when im stopped.. and start to go it makes that noise. the noise almost sounds like someone is banging on my car... it only does it once then stops. i dont know if thats enough description, but let me know if you have any clue as to what it might be! thanks!

Re: What can the noise be?
CV(constant velocity) joints are what allows the front wheel drive axles to move freely up and down with the front suspension as you go over bumps. If not, the axles would break whenever you drive over a bump. They are mounted between the wheel hubs and the drive axles.
I would also look into the wheel bearings, and the struts. If you have a loose strut mount it can also make that noice(seen it from time to time at my work). The wheel bearings tend to make a roaring sound, but the struts tend to make a banging sound.
Hope this helps.

Re: What can the noise be?
could be the Cv joint damage in the joint and check it out and try turn the steering wheel to both directions and see what up or it could be a brake caplier or the ball joint
