Head question
Do you guys think it would be easier and cheaper to port and polish my head, intake mani, tb, get a new cam, or just get a complete Gude head package? I figure the Gude head package will come almost perfectly tuned but would the price be a lot more? i have a D16z6.

If you read about a lot of people who have delt with Gude..they talk about how much of a dickhead their workers are. Ive also heard it takes forever to get your stuff back from them. I believe they come with bullfrog cams or something...and those have been known to snap/brake in half for no reason...but its up to you.

i think if you get them ported and polished yourself you will be much more happy with the results. plus none of the core charges and bla bla. are you pulling the head yourself?

when you increase the size of the passages you're going to get more flow, so any machine shop can open up your airways and show you how great it flows on a bench, but that doesnt mean you're going to make more power.
send it somewhere with a guud reputation like portflow if you're insistant on getting headwork done. I hope you've got your bottom end done already, if not, spend your money building your block first.

when it comes to head porting you get wh at you pay for. gude cams re reground facotry cams. the heat treat is never right. anyhow in a nut shell gude sucks. for the money of a gude head package, or any other port work on a d u could just do an LS swap. id go thte dohc route myself....MUCH more potential than the small bore, long stroke d motors.
