Surfing....
I finally was able to afford a board today and I went out to 1st street and felt completely lost. I have no idea really what I am doing. I didn't stand up at all today. I know its a hard sport to learn so if u guys could offer any pointers or if any of you guys want together and hit some waves that would be cool.

Re: Surfing....
I got a 7'6'' fun board. The waves were pretty nice today, about waist to chest, but I was getting slaughtered haha. I felt like I was getting in the way so I stopped.

Re: Surfing....
This is going to sound stupid, but it works. I helped give some lessons in florida at my buddies shop and have been surfing for a while. Practice on the beach...paddling and standng up. If you dont want to do it there, in your backyard...bedroom wherever. Go through all the motions and get really comfy popping up. Try and remember to bring your knee to your chest and not swing your leg around. Sounds stupid but it gets 7 year old girls to stand up there first time surfing.
edit. Def watch guys in the line up. Your new, there not. Localism sucks but you have to earn your place in a line up. Esp someplace where surfing is few and far between. aka vabeach. In the outer banks in the more popular spots it can get bad, but chances are you can always find an empty place to learn. You might even run into a couple of pro's. There all cool and normally will give you advice.
