Toyota Motor Swap
my dad's looking to get rid of his camry so i was thinking that it could be a fun project. it is a '95 toyota camry le (the shatty 4cyl one). i was thinking of swapping a 3SGTE motor into it. i'm pretty sure that this would fit but at the same time i'd love to go bigger and get a 1JZGTTE motor. would that fit? this might be a stupid question but then again i am a stupid person. i know that the '95 camry v6 is a 3.0L so i assume it would. anyone know about toyota swaps?

Re: Toyota Motor Swap
the supra motor would be a pain in the ass considering the motor u have is fwd and the engine bay is made for a fwd. you would have to make alot of parts to make it fit right.

Re: Toyota Motor Swap
get the V-6(3vzfe), build it and supercharge it. the 3sgte is a good swap, but you will go though trannys. The FWD tranny doesnt hold well for higher boost applications. i went through 3 in one summer when i did a 3sgte swap in a 92 celica GT (old 5sfe motor). it was fun but not worth the pain.

Re: Toyota Motor Swap
ummm, the 1JZGTE is a supra engine since when?
it all depends on your abilities and your bank account. further, the 3SGT-E in a FWD mounted location would experience a shit pile of torque steer. i did a 3SGT-E swap in a 91 Celica and quickly sold the car.

Re: Toyota Motor Swap
RWD? who said anything about that?
there would be a bunch of chassis mods to convert to a RWD. there are several options worth looking into, but i think that you would be limited by what is available and again your ability and all that.

Re: Toyota Motor Swap
first, to be really techinical there is not 1jzgtte...only a 1jzgte (yes it has two turbos, but the engine code does not use the two "tt" identification.
engine yrs cc comp ps@rev appl.
1JZGTE 92-95 2492 8.5 280 6200 SUPRA
1JZGTE 92-96 2492 8.5 280 6200 MARK II
1JZGTE 96-99 2491 9.0 280 6200 SOARER
as for your ques. about converting to RWD(with any engine choice)...you just nutz. you might as well build a tube frame chassis and put the camry sheetmetal on it since thats how much work its gonna be...its also gonna cost WAY to much to have a overweight camry. good lcuk with that.
