With the emergence of Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ, buyers may have trouble justifying the higher price of the Nissan 370Z. But the next-generation model is tipped to follow its rival's formula with a lighter, more efficient and likely more cost-effective four-cylinder Z-car to arrive as the current model's replacement around 2016. The report from Auto Express indicates that the new Z will ditch its traditional six-cylinder setup in favor of an inline-four - likely with a turbocharger - but just which engine remains a big question mark.

 

I hope they don't fuck this one up... They should just name it something else because there will never be another 240z.

The staff at NICO had inside word a few weeks ago that this was still on the table. I don't know of many people who aren't offended by this plan. It's absolutely ridiculous.

EDIT: After reading the article, he's just spreading more of the rumor mill. Even corporate has been quiet to staffers on talk sites about whether this is happening or not. I'm hearing second hand from our admins at NICO that they have a "reliable source inside Nissan" claiming it could still happen. But no date or anything like what this guy claims.

 

For 2016 models, everything is just speculation.

Nissan could say it was powered by a roving pack of one-eyed stray cats for the next 3 years and it would be just as accurate until they finally unveil an actual production prototype.

remember when there were rumors of a new rx-7 back in 2003? also, remember when there were rumors of a new rx-7 every year after that? and remember when there were rumors of a new 240sx/silvia every year after they stopped selling those too?
