Question Honda CR-Z Owners?

I am on the market for a 2-door vehicle that I can commute to work in basically use as my DD, and I was convinced by a buddy to drive a CR-Z. After driving one, I instantly want one. It fits the bill perfectly and just-so-happens to get great MPG's (compared to past vehicles I have owned) and isn't a pig or unenjoyable to drive, by any means.

I've looked on CR-Z forums, but they are all hybrid nerds with terrible opinions, or they are Hondafags trying to slam/stretch/poke/herrafrush/God'sgifttohondatuners/gay with these things. I'm neither of those and just looking for normal guy input.

My questions to anyone that owns one are as follows:
-are they actually livable as a daily driver? or do they become a hassle once they have lost their 'new car luster'

-why do people own them for such a short time? I mean half of them on the market have >20k on them

-can I do all the maintenance myself? AKA I have never owned a hybrid!

-how is the comfort/noise/ride quality for interstates? is it comfortable enough to take weekend trips with the woman along with weekend luggage?

-is the CVT as bad as some of the reviewers say? should I just spring for the 6MT?

-I have not really come across any high mileage CR-Zs and I am curious if they will have normal Honda longevity. I'm sure they will since they have a ton of parts in common with the FIT, but I am curious.

Any other input would be great! Just looking for REAL reasons to either buy or not to buy.

Swap a k in it, throw any emissions equipment in the trash, delete the PS and AC, burn the tires off it...

Sorry.

I think they're neat but impractical for me since I have kids. Don't know ANYONE who's actually had one though.

2.0T_Convert over on TCL had one for a while, posted his thoughts on the car ridiculously often.

Got rid of his, but you can read through those posts to see what he had to say about it at the time.

My old roomie had one, I hated that damn thing. HUGE blind spots, NO pick up, handled like a pig, and despite the exteriors size, it was cramped and uncomfortable on the inside. Honestly, I hated that car, I think he is starting to, too.

I noticed this the one and only time i was in my cousins CR-Z... was not friendly to the 6'2" 240+ crowd.

I've always thought this car was marketed as sporty and fuel efficient and it's neither. I like the way it looks, but the interior is pretty small and my test drive wasn't all that fun. I'm pretty sure the base Cooper I just sold had more room in it. It is still fairly new though, perhaps that's why there aren't many with over 25k miles?

Well luckily I'm not a terribly large guy- I'm 6'0 and about 185lbs. I seem to fit in it just fine and I have no kids and the clam is small. I also have no trouble in my brothers Honda FIT.

Thanks for that link up there- I'm going to look through it a while.

I thought it was sportier than other cars with <115HP, but I mean who's looking for sporty when the thing is that underpowered.

I have a short commute to work, about a mile, so 35-40 mpg in town sounds wonderful. I'd have to fill it once a month.
