Default Why so slow???

ok all this week and server has been turtle slow ... its always been retarded but now its getting pretty bad. Takes good 3 minutes for it to respond and load . sometimes it wont do anything and gives an error code. Is this a problem that may get fixed or do i have to continue to endure it...

Dump the RSS feeds, their constant re-indexing is bogging down performance.

Where'd you get that information from? I don't doubt it, but I don't want to blindly disable features that may or may not actually have an impact on performance.

Actually... does anyone even use the RSS feed? It could probably be axed without any heartache.

Check the server logs for stats on the URL for the RSS feed, you will see that almost no one uses it and the hits are repeated from the same IPs, so it does not affect as many users as you see hits.

RSS feeds are automated to reindex based upon it's config settings (measured in seconds) to refresh itself. That eats up the CPU, database queries, and memory allocations for the indexing process. You will notice a significant difference.
