Im about to bolt up an LS tranny to my GSR motor. but my buddy says that a B16 would be better. i dont really know bcuz i never really messed with the B16's. so what tranny is best for my motor (performance wise)?

 

ls tranny is good for boost because of the longer gearing. si and gsr type r have short gear spans so you will go through the rpms faster. my brother has a ls tranny on his b16. its all stock and its slow as balls. the ls is good for daily driving but if you like to have some fun on the streets then a short geared tranny will be better for you.

 

but doesnt longer gears mean more top end speed? so my car will be faster but not quicker.

i think closer gear ratio allows you to remain in vtec while upshifting, was always one of the main pro's of having the b16/type r gearing.

if it is a stock GSR thhen dont use the LS.

All the gearing has to do with is staying in your powerband!! thats how you determine what trans is FOR YOU!!

 

Try to find a jdm gsr tranny with an lsd
