Question Nissan Owners!

I think I've thought through most of the kinds of cars I know much about, but know nothing about Nissans for some reason! So if you were on a $5000 budget, and were looking for a fairly reliable, non- turbo (insurance, gas, maintenance) car with decent cargo space that handles well and could make it to high 14's without tooo much trouble....what would you go for? Oh, daily driver...not looking to make it go really fast, simply because I have intentions of pouring money into a turbo MR2 when I graduate...that will be my fast car 1990/1991 N/A 300ZXs don't seem to go for too much on ebay, and the same year 240SXs go for pretty darn cheap. Thanks ahead of time!!

go for the n/a 300zx. 0-60 mph in the low 7s, and 1/4 mi in the low to mid 15s. they are quite heavy cars though. eBay has more N/As than TTs. 240s are nice, but if you had more to spend, id say get one and the sr20det.

btw, im not a nissan owner

if ur worried about insurance and maintenance then i suggest against a NA 300Z. turbo or not..its still classified as a 2 door sports car. if ur into nissans....i suggest 200sx se-r, or 91-92 Sentra se-r, or any b14 sentra SE. they all come with the vulnerable sr20de...and are extremely reliable. high 14's with this engine is easy as pie and most importantly easy on ur wallet. the 91-92 classic se-r was considered to be one of best handling cars for its price range back then, so with some research im sure ull be pleased with the sr20de community.

what year 200sx se-r / sentra SE have the sr20de? Just the 91-92?

if ur into nissans....
Not terribly...hense me knowing nothing about them, but I have a few cars narrowed down from other companies, and just didn't want to exclude a possible better car from them just because I wasn't well informed

lol...venerable.

Tu che~

the b13 boxy style 2door sentra se-r is from 1991-1994
the b14 Sentra Sedan SE 1998-1999
the 200sx SE-R 1995-1998
the nx2000 1991-1993

i believe those were the years that the sr20de was offered.

i loved my 91 240sx hatch back - was a suprisingly quick car and it was a fully loaded sl (burgandy w/ full black leather) - good car - but not the best for snow (rear wheel)

The only Nissans that fit your criteria are Sentras and old 240SX's.

I am against the NA 300ZX; you would regret it. They are slow and once you've driven a TT, you'll kick yourself in the ass for wasting money on a NA. Plus you want cargo space and easy maintenance, which cancels any Z ever made. You could pick up a first gen 300ZX or an older Z (240, 260, 280) for fairly cheap. They are good-looking fun cars to drive, but again they don't fit the criteria you listed.

The 240SX is another favorite of mine (or 200SX in Japan). But then again, what do you have against turbo?
No boost = No fun.

Sounds like you need a family car. Good luck.

Sentra SE-R is your best bet.
