Default H22 VS B20 w/ GRS head for an EK hatch?

Ive been planning on swapping out my engine in my hatch but im not sure what would be the most cost efficient but also with decent power engine to get.
I was thinking about an H22 but from some of the other replies and research I have done it seems alot of my car would have to be changed (etc: handling, steering). From some friends I have heard that a CRV B20 is a decent block to start from, and with decent torque. I also was told to swap the head for a gsr and go from there. Any comments about either engine for an EK would be greatly appreciated. Thanx yall...

Default hey

What year is your car? I am swapping in a b16a, which is a fairly good price for what it has to offer, if you have no financial problems, then go for a b16b, but you'll have to get a mount and shift linkage kit for that swap. Also you will have to have the engine wiring and ecu wiring converted to the engine, which is not to difficult.

you're gonna need to do more than slap on a gsr head to make it roadworthy. if you want torque, go h22 or b18 (ls). if you want that top end vtec, b16 or b18c... if you got the dough b18c5 (type r) you can even do a mini-me for a little bit more top end and put an ex sohc vtec head on your block. I'll let the honda people elaborate, that's about all I know.

There is another thread at this very moment discussing the differences between the h22 and b18c5 in a hatch.....there is no problem with the h22a if u upgrade suspension.... u want a lot of torque?? do a h23 vtec deal...but do not make your own it is a deathtrap.... there were h23 vtec engines in jdm 99 accord wagons which will be much more safe

go for the b20 swap. then once you have the block built enough to handle the vtec head, put on a b16 head and go from there.

aiight i dont want to jack ur thread but i dont want to repost neither, i got a 92 civic hb with a b16 in it right now im kinda tired of the b16 and keep thinking about putting a h22 in it, first the money not gonna be an issue but what is is would the car be reliable, still ride comfort, basically to the ones out there who had experience with it is it worth it or u regret it? Im gonna get the hasport kit and i was told ill have to grind a piece out on the tranny side wheel well, but let me know what u guys think, thanks.

its as reliable as your b16, just dont rev it above 8000 on stock valve springs and internals
