Default RC51 Over heating

I havea 2001 Honda RC51 1000r, and well on hte highway everything is fine but as soon as I start hitting stoplights and shit , the temp goes up to around 250 and blinks. I have heard from a lot of people that the V-Twin's always over heat. The fan cuts on like it should, there is plenty of liquid in the radiators there doesnt seem to be any blockage in the exhaust part.

Now will it always be like this?

Ive never heard of an RC51 that didnt do this. Coolant Additives might "help" a little.

Thats the same thing that I was hearing from fellow bike riders that have been riding for years. That the RC v-twins always over heat. I will have to see about adding some type of better coolant than what I have ..

Now is there any way besides better additives to help this or just let it happen..??

I have an RC and its pretty much a full race bike with lights and the highest ive had my temp go to is about 225 in traffic. I also only use water and purple ice mixed.

yeah, water wetter or something similar will help, but in this kinda heat we've been having, and with the rc's funky side mount radiators, they do get hot.

hard wire your fan to a toggle so you can keep it on all the time.

Or run 2 fans like i did on my 929.

You have to find an extra fan--it might be a tight fit--I know a guy who runs 2 fans one on the inside of the radiator blowing and one on the outside of the radiator sucking kind of like a convection super windy and cool.

I had plenty of room so i just ran 2 fans on the inside of the rad. blowing full speed--they kept my bike cool when it was overheating like crazy.

I used nuts/washers between the fan bracket and radiator mount points to keep the fan from rubbing. Zip-ties work great here to hold the fan in place.
