LS/VTEC Question
Ok, i posted on this before but i changed some things. When i bought the car it had a P06 ECU in it, dont know why but it was taching out at 6800. Well i put in a P72 and its still taching out at 6800, why is this??? Even if its not the right ecu, shouldnt it tach out at different RPMs???

Re: LS/VTEC Question
More than likely he means it is hitting rev limiter at 6800?
A) Your tach on the cluster could be wrong, as they are normally off a couple hundred RPM's up or down compared to what you really are
B) You have some kind of wiring wrong
C) That is what the stock ECU rev limits at
If I remember correctly, a P06 is a 92-95 DX Civic ECU, for the d15b7 motor, in which I believe the rev limiter is at 6800 RPM's. The P28 from the EX Civic rev limits at 7200 RPM's.
Good enough?

Re: LS/VTEC Question
Yeah thats what i mean, rev limiter at 6800. A P72 which is a GSR ECU, should hit rev limiter at 7200 stock, correct??? Im not sure if this ecu is even chipped, think its a stock GSR ECU. The guy who put the LS/VTEC in told me to get a P72 so i did. So who knows........Any More Ideas???? Thanks for all you guys help.

Re: LS/VTEC Question
if vtec does not come in it will seem like it hits a revlimiter at about 7000, but actually the low cam cant go no higher, just a thought

even if your ecu was chipped. its a p72 running a non-gsr block. get it tuned asap. you wont be seeing any problems. u cant just throw a random ecu onto a different block then what it was designed for and expect great results.
