Default i found how all the cars are getting stolen quietly

i heard about a way to steal cars without breaking into them or using a tow truck. this might be the answer to all the thefts around here.

i decided to try it out before posting it on here.

i called the dealership that i bought my car from. i told him that i lost my key and that i needed a new one. he told me to read him off my VIN number, so i did. he said they can make the key, and i can have it in a few days for 45$.

i never did lose my key, i was just testing my theory.

it looks to me like any theif can get a key made, coded for the specific vehicle, and go get into the car without breaking a window, slap it into nuetral and push it to a safe distance then start it up. then it can be taken to a chop shop easily.

makes sense doesnt it?

i just covered my damn VIN.

i think its worth a shot.

i heard about covering it up as well. they say to put a piece of black electical tape across your vin number. seems to work to my knowledge.

the dealerships are suppose to get you to come in and show them proof that you own the car before they release the key, so if you know the dealership you should just report them so the cops will know that there are keys out there, and that some one could be using them to steal cars. but good infomation.

i use to work for a honda dealership in california, and they always had the customer come in before they would release the keys, because they were liable for the keys they made if not released to the correct owner.

I've thought someone had a key to my car for a month or so. Thats why I got the aftermarket alarm in it. All it would take is for someone to have an "in" at a Honda dealer. It's not really that hard to do. It's kind of disturbing

This still doesn't explain why alarms arent being heard, even if just for a moment.

"im sorry, but i cant order a key for a vehicle without having a photo id and a copy of your registration as per bmw na. if i dont keep the information on hand for a 5 year period and we get audited or worse yet caught with a situation where we ordered a key for a stolen car, our dealership can lose its ability to have keys cut. my apologies but its the companies policy."

i have to say this shit to people 10 times a day i swear...
