limp mode problems??

Exclamation limp mode problems??

my boy has the 91 crx and he is having probs with limp mode....he has a jdm d15b vtec.....and ne wayz it has been runnnig fine for liek 3 dayz and he didnt know if vtec was workign right so we put a vtec light in and we drove it to see if vtec was workign right....but everytime we tried to hit vtec it just went into limp mode (3500rpm) and ne wayz...we reset the ECU and took out the hazzard fuse under the hood and thought that was the problem but it wasnt ....we drove it again and its still in limp mode?? do can ne body help me figure out whats wrong.....


its not the dizzy b/c he just got a fresh rebuild form bag geon....

You've got a wiring problem or a sensor problem obviously. Make sure your VSS is good (speed sensor) and see if you are outputting any CELs. Does this always happen at a certain RPM, or only when you reach the vtec engagement RPM under heavy throttle? Also, have you checked your vtec and pressure switch wiring? There is a chance that something about your wiring is grounding out the vtec output when it engages, which will do some bad things, but probably not damage the ECU. The vtec output is current limited, so it should be pretected OK.. You may also have a bad vtec solenoid..

but this is so gay b/c look last nite we were on our way to the norva and it started acting up and wouldnt rev over 3500rpm....so we took his cr back to his house and then we left it there and took mny car.....when we got back he had to go home so he got in his car and it started right up and it was fine....it rev'd all the way to 8K....??? wtf is going on here??? i mean we raced and everthing...and it was fine and it didnt go into limp mode ne more that nite...??? i just think tha the has a melted wire or a shor tand when they touch his car goes into limp mode??? can that happen??? discuss??

He's getting a #1 CYP, injector, and VSS CELs by the way.

I'd be surprised if it's anything but wiring, sensors usually work crappy or perfect, usually they don't alternate between the two..
