Exclamation UNIX people look here!

We are about to have 2 openings on our team for senior UNIX admins. Here are the basics of what you should know:

- Sun Solaris 8, 9, 10 (sol10 sparc and x86)
- Familiar with sparc hardware (240's, 280's, 440's, 880's mainly)
- Weblogic
- Sun Iplanet and Sun One Webserver
- DNS (Bind)
- Sendmail
- NIS
- UNIX security
- SH/KSH Shell scripting
- Veritas Volume Manager
- Solstice Disk Suite
- Veritas Netbackup
- Experience in an enterprise network (1500+ users, 500,000+ customers, 200+ servers)
- Must be able to work with Developers
- Must be able to meet strict deadlines

The good: Company is very stable, UNIX isn't going anywhere so job is very secure. Pay is good, benefits are excellent, environment isn't bad. Our environment deals only with the internet side of our company so there is never a dull moment.

The bad: Oncall pager. You carry it for a week at a time. Right now there are 4 of us so we each have it once a month. It pages alot. The commute can be a PITA depending on where you're at. We are in Chevy Chase, MD.

If you're interested in this position, email me your resume. trak.rdy@gmail.com is my email. This is for SENIOR level admins only. Sorry, entry level or junior admins need not apply. If you want more details on the job, email me your resume and if it looks like you could possibly fit, I'll tell you more. Thanks.

Typically a senior position of anything requires at least 8-10 years experience.

Junior position is typically at least 5 years.

To the thread starter, post company name and company website. Let the people get to know the company (unless its a position that requires a secret clearance, in which case that should be mentioned in the first post, in addition to what type of clearance).

This is true. There are also other things that also determine whether you are senior or not like the size of the network, number of users, size of servers, number of servers, etc...

The job is with geico.. Specifically geico.com.
