I will be swapping the JDM D15b into my 1990 DX Civic Hatch. Which damn ECU do I use? I already have the distributor out of a 1991 si! Please someone clear this up! I heard that tyhe P08 which is the ECU that came with the engine is OBD1. The distributor I have is OBD0. Is there a way to use those two? I would hate to have to buy another distributor. The main reason why is that P08 are pretty cheap compared to the rest. Also the P08 has vtec already? Or will I need something else to kick in the VTEC? I know its a lot of questions but hopefully someone can just run through them really quick!

 

Ok here ya go. The P08 is basically a JDM P28, but the P08 O2 sensor is a one wire I believe. IF you change the O2 sensor to something that will work with whatever ECU you want to use, you're fine. The D15b is pretty damn similar to the D16Z6, so a P28 is a fairly good choice. Now for the other part. I do PM6 (OBD0) conversions to turn them into a vtec ECU with P28 maps and launch control. This is the easiest plug and play setup for a mini-me, Z6, etc into an OBD0 car. Since this is already a modified program, you can tell me what you want for your vtec, rev limit, and launch control RPM. My hardware is compatible with TurboEdit, so you can get it tuned if you need. I honestly haven't done this for a D15 swap yet, but like I said, it's very similar to the Z6.
