The P-car needs some A/C. It runs on R-12and i dotn wnat to take the chance on a r-134 conversion. I called Firestone and those bitches told me $250 to fill it back up. F-that!

DOes onyone know of anyplace where ican get my air conditioning charged for a reasonable price or a cheap alternative to R-12?

but that's the only alternative. you want cheap, convert. you want to pay, go to firestone. it's illegal for non-certified people to buy or handle it, so you're going to have to pay for the r12 one way or another.

i think he's talking about the retrofit kit...but either way, you're gonna have to pay someone to vacuum it, and charge it...

but carter hit it on the head

My honda blows way colder with the R134a retrofit than it did with the R12. If you know someone who can "cram" the system with 134a it's a way better/cheaper alternative. Otherwise as the others said you're going to have to pay someone to do a R12 refill and it's illegal for a non certified person to handle the refridgerant.

but he said he didn't want to put the 134 in because his system is "fragile". whatever that means?

I agree that he should just get the kit and convert, but since he's read online that his specific system doesn't like the conversion, then that's not what he was looking for.
