How to tell when axles go bad?
Need some help fellas...
What are the tell-tale signs that my axles are going bad?? Im asking because I just got my clutch and tranny put in recently... the car ran fine for the first couple days. But last night, I felt something weird.
Under WOT i feel a hard shuddering and heavy vibration from the steering wheel. It does this subtley at low RPMS but much more noticable at high RPMS. ESPECIALLY if i floor it in first gear... and NO IT IS NOT WHEELHOP. I had no loss of traction when this happened. Never felt this before... anyone else have the same problem?
By the way... the car is a 91 CRX Si w/ b16 swap.
Thanks for the help in advance.

yeah, and since they pulled apart half your suspension to get the axles/transmission out, i'd consider getting it alligned. nothing *should* have come out of alignment, but it's never a bad idea. it's not your axles... you'd hear more popping and feel less shuddering. and the popping is very loud and distinguishable. also check your motor mounts... all the torquing and twisting trying to get the transmission back on could have ripped something or popped something out. i'm guessing your tires are still good, but it could be that also.

if the axle is out of round you cant just look at it and tell. you'd have to get the car up on a lift and accelerate with it in the air and watch the axles spin to see, and sometimes then you can't even tell. if they are brand new axles i would swap them out for new ones because that is most likely the case. if they are the old axles check to make the halfshaft is bolted back up, check to make sure your tie rod ends/balljoints are tight, make sure your lugnuts are tight, etc.
