Cool I need an expert Chevy mechanic to ...

install this motor into my car.

I have done a great deal of research on renegadehybrids.com and they make a kit (with full instructions) and even following along on the hybrid porsche forums and the swap seems sound and a good investment.

From my reading and discussion wiht the members of the board and RH I could do it myself but I'm pretty lazy and would rather pay a professioanl to do the work for me.

Before some one asks why I'll tell you.
My timing belt jumped time and cussed the pistons and head to kiss each other. I called eurosport and they told me the price would be $3200 to repair. That would get me back on the road but i would stil have to deal with the nitpicky p-car maintenace and sub standard performnace.

The N/A 944 it terrribly underpowered and a bitch on maintenance. The motor is built to put out its max hp so any perfoamnce mod I do to it will be costly and not much of a difference anyway.

From what i hear the LT1 is a mechanincs dream and can be made to put out more power for not much money. I can even say goodbye to timing belts!!!!!

I'm not looking to do this right now, but if anyone knows a chevy mechanicn with a shop that would be willing to do the swap please pass along the info. If they would liek to look at wha tehy are getting into just follow the links they will tell you all you want to know.

Dan at Eurosport used to have 944 with a Chevy 350 in it. (I don't know if he still has it or not.) But that thing was beast. Go down there and talk to him, he'd be the one in the area to do it.

I know they had one with a 385 that was putting around 600 to the wheels. Perhaps we are thinking of the same one.

the LS1 is lighter and closer to the orignal weight of the 4cyl put in the 944 and 968 so you dont loose the 50/50 weight balance

Dont do an LT1. Just do a normal SBC. The Gen II SBC's (LT1 and LT4) have reverse cooled heads, which basically means all you can use is LT1 and LT4 heads, unless you wanna spend an extra grand on top of the cost of the SBC heads to have them converted over. You can get an SBC for basically free, and throw on some budget heads and a nice cam and make plenty of power for that light car.
