In lieu of another thread I've been prompted to make a thread pretaining to the people who were born and raised in the northern Virginia area.

List some things that have improved or made the area worse since you were a kid. Also a rant/vent thread I'll start

Worse:
1)Illegal immigrants - gangs, car theft, low income housing areas built around once prestigious areas

2)Deforestation - took away a lot of NoVA's natural beauty to make way for multi-million dollar houses and McMansions for the wannabes

3)Police - harass our drivers for the soul purpose of brining in revenue. I had not heard of the FCPD solving a case or helping somebody for the first good 10-15 years of my life. Now that I think about it, they've never done anything positive for me, my family, my friends, my neighbors, or my local aquintances.

4)Drivers - I've never been anywhere else in the country where people actually try to kill you on the road. Enough said. DC, Arlington, Tysons Corner cannot be driven into or out of from 8:30-10:30AM and 5:00-8:00PM. Every soccer mom in Vienna/Tysons owns a Lexus RX 300 (some conspiracy amongst moms) and they will push me off of the road or cut me off without giving a damn.

5)Politics - why haven't we become our own state? Everyone knows NoVA is not like the rest of VA at all. We want to make our own laws and have our own budget and political leaders, and we have been denied and must answer to people who's interests reflect nothing like our own.

agree with all, but agree with #1 the most.

 

traffic and so much congestion on the roads- its take forever to get anywhere now. And ppl speed and insane on the road.

 

6.) super high cost of living. Seems everyone I go eat now, it's expensive as shit.

 

movies 9.50$ for one dam person

 

its $40 to go on a date to the movies, its a rip off

 

7.) Gas prices are higher then anywhere in VA
8.) service prices are crazy...no matter what it is...it always like 50% higher

 

I totally agree with you on all points. I have lived in nova since i was 4 and it's out of hand. At first I pawned off my thoughts as getting old, but your right, it's not us it's them. I hate the fact that in the rest of the country, people actually get the fuck out of the fast lane for other drivers, not drive 60 when it should be 90, the flow of traffic. We still have the signs in NOVA saying slower traffic keep right, but all these asshole here think they are better than everyone else. All the people that work in dc, or for the gov. that live in nova, or all the high up military families that think they are all gods gift to the world that fuck up the attitude everywhere and inflate all our costs in the area. I had to move south when I purchased my home because I couldnt afford the inflated rates in woodbridge to buy something reasonable.

Dont even get me started on MS13 and all the stolen cars and shaddy shit going on in the aftermarket car world in nova either. A lot of people, to many, in this area think they are "gangstar" just cus they live near d.c. Not in it, but near. Pathetic. Everyone is trying to be hard, and it makes me sick.

There is gonna be assholes get on this thread saying "if you dont like it move" and thats a good point, but we have our reasons for staying, and will do what we like, thank you.
